# sigh #

Now I consider myself to be pretty well-versed in PC’s and their attendant paraphenalia…tonight has been an abject lesson in pie-eating of the humble variety etc etc.

The missus PC has been recently complaining when connecting to the wireless network in the house..I simply put this down to proximity, walls & floors etc etc. Oh no ! Tonight…nothing. Can’t connect…in fact bollocks I havn’t even got an IP..what do you think about that !>!>?…4 hours later and too damn late in the evening I have finally accepted defeat and am going to bed.

I f##kin’ HATE being beaten by a PC…this is NOT over ?! It WILL be my beyatch once more.

It is once again my beeyatch ?! WHO’S the Daddy ?!?

PowerToys

This subject sounds like it’s going to be a hot topic for a while :0)

MSN Spaces has just announced the release of their PowerToys additions to the MSN Spaces environment. So far this allows you to incorporate a media player for video or audio on your site and far greater control over the html content and style of your page.

I’ve tinkered with the media player so far and am just waiting until I get home to copy some selected audio files on free webspace in order to avoid using bandwidth over my own web connection.

More soon !

DIY Frenzy hits EL

Took a mad turn this afternoon and packed the girls off after
lunch and finally got stuck into clearing out and cleaning up my study.
It’s been getting pretty rammed in there for the last couple of years
with more and more crap being accumulated and very little clearing out
being done. So this afternoon a couple of hours saw it cleared and all
the old crap and ‘bits that will come in useful’ flung into refuse
sacks for the tip.

We had a bunch of wood flooring left over from the dining
room/living room makeover a few months back so I cleared the floor,
binned the carpet and got into laying the remaining flooring only to
find (of course) I’m a bit short…so to the web and order the needed
bits and pieces and whaddya know I’m suddenly £240 lighter…ouch.

On a cheerier and less expensive note ?!?! I’ve got a three day
course starting next Friday and the following weekend culminating in
the Club championships. This is a rare opportunity to train with my
Sensei’s Sensei, a very experienced Japanese instructor based in France
called Ryozu Tsukada…have only trained with him once before when I
was a lot less experienced so am looking forward to it this time around.

More on this next week I think…l8rs

Intelligent Design…my @rse !

This
little snippet caught my eye…Once I’d wiped the screen down and lowered my voice from
the raving levels it had reached while reading, I settled down to try
and understand some of the implications of ‘ID’ and it’s propagation as
an alternative to Evolutionary theory.

[Adopts yorkshire accent, hooks thumbs into imaginary braces and begins calling a spade a spade etc etc]

I’m not a scientist…or even a keen amateur. I have watched countless
editions of David Attenborough up mountains, in abyssal depths, filming
majestic herds of wildebeest and best of all the Orca’s taking seals
basking on the beach. I’ve devoured Bill Bryson’s
book ‘A
short history of nearly everything’ and loved how he brought vast swathes
of science to life. And have been utterly convinced that we descend from apes…and most crucially to this mild rant…I’m very,
very NOT religious.

I was married in a church so have already proven myself a hypocrite but
nonetheless I am stunned by the move by the Kansas Board of Education
approving new teachings which bring into question Darwinism.

"Ah…But !"  I hear you decry…"It IS just that…a theory" -
yes..I appreciate that it is just that and like all theories it’s
mettle must be tested in order to become dogma (sic ! So where’s the proof of the
good
book that justifies it’s adherents !)…but how…just
how can anyone put their faith in a pseudo-religious, poorly disguised
attempt at reviving 19th century creationism ? In an era when we are
beginning to unravel the very fabric of our existence, and peer back
far enough to glimpse evidence of the creation of our cosmos…And then to make matters
worse proponents of ‘ID’ manage to get legislation passed to allow
the teaching of this mumbo-jumbo ?

I only hope that at some point in the (very near) future, sufficient
evidence is accrued to put this matter to rest and we can see what
additional efforts they raise to perpetuate religions’ stranglehold
over freedom of thought. May be we could just start treating one
another like simple human beings instead of relationships based on what
school you went to, "Whit fit d’ye kick wi’ son ?" and my personal
favourite the old, " whit team d’ye support ?" [Ooohhh...issues long
dormant rise up - too many years living in the west !]

Best close now or this is going to segue into a rant against football as well !! I mean really…!

LoTR: The Third Age [Update]

Oh my god…I had to stop playing this in co-op mode with Z ! My sleep
pattern after playing 4 nights straight before getting to bed was
completely f##ked…I mean like getting up at 2am and thinking I was in
the Mines of Moria fighting cave trolls and goblins…gutted because
it’s a great great game :D Might come back to it in a couple of weeks
when I’ve got some time off and don’t have to sweat going into the
office after like 4 hours sleep :p
