Yum ! This imagineering concept converges communications, data, UI and OS into one seamless and beautifully conceived platform…if only one thing comes of this pllleeeeeaaasssssse let it be the semantic, clustered file system?

You’ll be a man my son…
“If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; . . . If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same . . . Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it.”
Or….alternatively you could just grab a buddy and amid the hand-wringing, woe is us media frenzy infront of Lehman Brothers snog the crap out of your buddy on live US TV….good job guys. Made me laugh in the midst of a tough day.

This further education opportunity will come in very useful at project kick-off meetings and pitching sessions !
‘…you don’t need to see our project plan’
‘…these aren’t the requirements you’re looking for!’
‘..go about your business’

Need some REST ?
I’ve been working recently on a couple of pretty interesting aspects of MI Reporting in my day job…you know the stuff about how our organisation generates reports or information or data for our customers to get at in a timely manner.
So while researching and reading up on more interactive connectivity and programmatic access to our data in a consumer-agnostic fashion I’ve been delving into the world of SOAP, RPC and the like. And I came across this brilliant, brilliant explanation of REST. Enjoy !

Mapping
Just a little bit of tinkering with the GoogleMaps API and some geocoding stuff…should show a googlemap centered on home on which you then search for other locations, get directions etc etc

Scotland out of the World Cup
I shouldn’t really be surprised, half the Pumas play their rugby in the heartland of the French game but why can’t we get past these guys. And why the hell when Hadden claims we’ve ‘tried and practised a number of ways of playing the game’ did we pick that crappy high ball affair which was little more than a mirror of their gameplan ? We’d've been far better off letting Parks keep them back in their own 45′ and pick off the points as the Argie indiscipline began to lapse from Patterson’s boot.
Sigh…I foretold this as a low score, tight and attritional game. Damn I hate it when I’m right. Now I have to suffer the additional indignity of hearing Ingerlund fans talking up their chances for the remainder of the event.
Bollocks I hate it when we lose, but I hate it even more when we lose and play with such crashing mediocrity. Nods to the Lamont brothers, moments of honest crash-ball heroics. Dan Parks for his kicking from hand and Patterson keeping us within striking range until the final minutes.
Ah well…
