This is exactly what I was talking about earlier this week with a buddy. Apple have a product range that’s so pervasive, engaging and functionally rich that people year after year are buying into the ethos. So we’ve seen what…5 years of almost complete digital domination and across that half decade people are will approach various products in waves, some will upgrade religiously, others will hang off…but this just builds potential and momentum so that whatever the Cupertinians roll out will be picked up BY SOMEONE because it’s better than what they have right at that moment…this is the magic of Steve’s legacy. And whether you cynically view this as sheep buying into form over function (blah blah yawn!) ultimately people will use what they end up liking most…and I’ve heard precious few discussions about Apple users frustrated by their lack of flexibility and DRM frustration forsaking their Apple-iness in favour the little green robot…it’s ALL been the other way in fact

IT Media sources reporting on the Googlephone release and it’s manifest inadequacies when compared to the Jesus Phone quoted Steve Jobs…

“I laughed so much a little bit of wee came out”

No headphone jack
No bluetooth stereo
No iPhone-like touchscreen ability
No Client for sync’ing your calendar, contacts etc
Keyboard quoted as ‘mediocre’
Plastics and build quality reported as poor

Wow…what an own goal !
