The year started well and things were good. I’d done RideLondon for the first time and the Dunwich Dynamo with my club here in Cambridge UK. Then I got hospitalised in Austria after an off downhilling with my son in Kitzbuhel, spent 3 days in Hospital with a suspected T4 fracture and struggled getting back onto the bike much in the second half of the year at all. I have been using Xert for a couple of years but not really as a training aid so I did a few rides to work into London with it and it helped raise the morale and give me some hope my strength/conditioning hadn’t all gone. Many of you on Zwift will know this as the Mall Sprint (or Classique Sprint) and it’s a tricky one to time just right. This segment was done IRL on a Kings Cross to Westminster commute and well…there’s some life in the old dog yet!?
